6 things to know
Book scenic trains early
Your pass covers the journey fare on Glacier & Bernina Express, but seat reservations (CHF 13–49) are mandatory and sell out weeks ahead.
Youth discount is significant
Ages 16–25 save 20–25% on the Swiss Travel Pass. Always declare your age at booking — can save CHF 50–100 on a multi-day pass.
Jungfraujoch is never "free"
The pass gives 25% off — still CHF 150–165. Budget this separately. It's worth every franc, but plan for it.
Buy before you arrive
Swiss Travel Passes are for non-residents only and are often cheaper via authorised agents or Rail.ninja than at Swiss stations.
Half-Fare + Day Pass combo
Staying 2+ weeks? Buy the Half-Fare Card (CHF 120) and supplement with SBB Day Passes (CHF 26 each with Half-Fare). Often beats a long consecutive pass.
Download the SBB app

What we actually used
For our 7-day route, we chose the Swiss Travel Pass — 6 consecutive days, 2nd class. It covered everything except Jungfraujoch (booked separately). Rigi and Lake Brienz were free bonuses. Titlis cost us CHF 45 instead of CHF 92.
